The “FREE ERIC V” benefit concert features San Diego favorites The Truckee Brothers, Long Live Logos, and Pete Stewart. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door, with all proceeds going directly to the “FREE ERIC V” defense fund, established by friends and family working to raise money and awareness surrounding Eric Volz’s case. Eric Volz, a 27-year old American, has spent the last two years in Nicaragua as a journalist and publisher of EP Magazine, a bilingual lifestyle magazine that advocates smart growth. Based in Managua, Volz was arrested, tried and convicted of the murder of his friend, Doris Jimenez in a small oceanside village. Ten witnesses working with Volz two hours away in Managua during the time of the murder provided sworn affidavits that Eric was with them in Managua. No physical evidence connected Volz to the crime or the crime scene, yet he was convicted and handed a 30-year sentence in a Nicaraguan prison. For More Information: www.friendsofericvolz.com
